Trelleborg Expands Global Aerospace Footprint with New Manufacturing Facility in Morocco
Swedish polymer solutions specialist Trelleborg has officially inaugurated a new aerospace sealing systems manufacturing facility at Midparc in Nouaceur, Morocco, further strengthening its presence in the global aerospace industry.
The new facility represents an investment of nearly 130 million Moroccan dirhams and is expected to create between 150 and 200 skilled jobs over the coming years. The project is designed to support the growth of Morocco’s aerospace sector while enhancing local sourcing capabilities and expanding the country’s industrial value chain.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ryad Mezzour said the investment aligns with Morocco’s strategy to increase local integration within the aerospace industry and reinforce the country’s position in global aviation supply chains.
According to the minister, Trelleborg’s decision to establish a second production site in Morocco reflects growing international confidence in the country’s manufacturing ecosystem. He noted that Morocco is becoming an increasingly important industrial platform for companies serving African, European, and Middle Eastern markets.
The investment is also expected to contribute to the development of several strategic sectors beyond aerospace, including rail transportation, engineering, research and development, renewable energy, and green hydrogen technologies.
Peter Nilson described the new facility as a significant milestone for the company. He stated that the expansion will strengthen Trelleborg’s ability to support major aerospace manufacturers, including Safran and Airbus, along with other industrial partners operating in the region.
Meanwhile, Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi highlighted that Trelleborg’s arrival will further enhance Morocco’s aerospace ecosystem by bringing advanced technology, innovation, and additional value-added manufacturing capabilities.
The investment follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the Moroccan government and Trelleborg during the Marrakech Air Show 2024. Industry analysts believe the project underscores Morocco’s growing attractiveness as a destination for advanced manufacturing and aerospace-related investments.
As demand for high-performance polymer-based components continues to increase across the aviation sector, Trelleborg’s new facility is expected to play a key role in supporting global aerospace supply chains while contributing to regional economic development.
